Thinking of Bryce

Sometime when I was young I saw a postcard of Bryce Canyon with snow.  I thought it looked absolutely magical and decided I had to go there someday.  And so, when I moved to Utah for college I put it on my "Utah bucket list."  I never found quite the right group and quite the right timing during undergrad, but luckily I went back to Utah for grad school and had a second try.

I was actually super lucky, because it was at Bryce Canyon in winter that Cory and I met for the first time.  My roommate invited him on a snowshoeing trip I organized after a couple other people fell through last minute, and (little did I know) put in a good word for me with him.  I think she's going to heaven for that, among other things. :)

He said the first things that impressed him were that I had sweet snow gear (thanks, REI) and that I was easy to talk with.  I remember finding our conversation really fun and natural too.  And, I also loved the fact that he wanted to go explore "just one more trail" even though it was snowing a lot and most of the rest of the group headed back to the cabin after the first loop.  And so, we found our easy-to-talk-to adventuring other half.

That trip was 2 years ago today.  Turns out Bryce Canyon with snow really is magical. :)
